AME Info – United Arab Emirates:
Nexus Insurance Brokers, one of the region’s largest independent insurance brokers, has significantly bolstered its management team by recruiting three of the UK’s most respected and experienced financial professionals.
Peter Ellen will work as Operations Director, taking charge of sales, customer services, agency services, information technology and training and development.
Nick Henderson will assume the role of Training and Development Director, and will continue to build on the strong foundation and commitment Nexus has in this area.
Finally, Gary Lunn has been appointed general manager of Nexus in Qatar as the company seeks to service the needs of this vibrant and expanding market.
The triple appointment further consolidates Nexus’s position as the most capable and ethical independent insurance broker in the Gulf region – a hard-won reputation achieved through consistent quality of service and by methodically training and recruiting world-class staff.
“Peter, Nick and Gary bring a huge amount of strength and credibility to our management team, giving us the extra momentum we need to take Nexus to the next level of growth,” said Mahmoud Nodjoumi, CEO and Founder, Nexus Group.
Ellen comes with 27 years of industry experience, having spent the last decade providing strategic advice to financial services companies to improve and strengthen sales strategy and performance, and will use this vast expertise to further enhance the level of service offered to Nexus customers.
Previously, Ellen spent seventeen years with UK assurance group Allied Dunbar in a variety of roles, including director of sales management development, training and development director, E-Commerce director, and board director responsible for sales strategy.
Henderson, a financial services sector veteran of two decades, joins Nexus from a training consultancy he founded in 2000. He expanded the business into the Far East and established an office in Hong Kong. Henderson also boasts extensive experience in the UAE, having moved to the region in 1995 to head up the training and development department of Eagle Star International before transferring to Zurich International Life following a merger.
Lunn, a renowned structured investments expert, is also joining the fold from a consultancy background. Recent career highlights include working for SIP Nordic UK to build and develop a specialist fund broker distribution business. Prior to this, Lunn held the post of senior development manager at St. James Place Wealth Management, recognized as one of the leading organisations of its kind in the UK, where over a period of six years he supported and developed over 100 advisory businesses. His CV also includes a nine-year tenure at HSBC during which he achieved a senior management position presiding over 42 financial advisors.
Nexus Group’s new recruits join a company on a distinct upward curve – last year, premium from Nexus’s general insurance division grew by 11%, while life and savings rose a healthy 20% during the same period.
Highlighting some of the key drivers behind the impressive growth, Nodjoumi explained that the company intended to further implement a host of new and valuable client propositions, including further development in employee benefits and health insurance.
Nodjoumi also indicated that Nexus plans to expand its geographic footprint beyond Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain and Lebanon to include Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
“This company is going to grow in leaps and bounds,” he said.
“We build relationships with our customers by giving them the best advice, the best service combined with unbiased independent solutions while developing their trust in us. We will continue to put our customers first as they are the reason we are able to build the future of our business.”
